A high water sensor is a valuable tool that helps you receive the earliest notice possible of a high water problem in the home. However, a high water sensor does not prevent water damage. If your home may be subject to high water damage, it is your responsibility as a homeowner to contact your insurance carrier to include flood or high water insurance with your policy.
In order to receive the maximum benefit from your high water sensor, we strongly suggest you have the sensor inspected at least once a year. The high amount of moisture in and around a sump pump causes electrical devices to be more susceptible to corrosion. A corroded sensor will not work properly and will need to be replaced. An annual inspection of a high water sensor can be the catalyst that minimizes the damage from a high water emergency.
